A NEW STUDY funded by the National Academy of Sciences has found that the strong pronunciation of the English language shown by French men and women is far from spontaneous. In fact, says Dr. Abraham Dolemorra, from the Department of Behavioral Disorders at Harvard School of Medicine, “these jerks do it by choice”.
Dolemorra acknowledged that while it is justified to show phonetic traces of one’s mother tongue when speaking a foreign language, “there is not a physiological explanation as of why the French talk in English as if they were gagging on a chicken liver”.
National pride seems to be at center of this flatulent behaviour which, according to the study, cannot be effectively slapped out of them.
